The Winter of the Virtual

The team had been at the hotel for was probably weeks, but it seemed like months, or could have only been days. It was hard to tell. Dreams were lucid and heightened thanks to the cubes, particularly if people had traded them recently.

They had a space for DVDs though there wasn’t that many left to play. There was one marked !!! but not many people left had both a working cube and a sonic with enough charge left to fix the disc. Most people had been using it to anchor down possessions and bank balances. Neither of which was really necessary. Nathan had been filling in for Nate and had taken over some of the air time on the hotel radio. He managed to find some early recordings of the Watchtower Society and and been interviewing a few people. However, being in the hotel had left people with rather short memories and a weird sense of what was real and what wasn’t. Meaning that stories had to be deep and well known for them by them to make sense. So more often life stories and well studied accounts rather than superficial stuff.

Unfortunately most of the Bibles still around were just a garble of words, but there was a USB going around that had an audio copy. It was playable by the most basic cubes and was highly recommended to listen to before doing anything else.

A few of the classic players began typing out the Bible again on found keyboards and typewriters, but found that a lot of their pages vanished from day to day. They didn’t know they were being taken to actors and others in more dangerous situations and programmers learning to do Holy Coding. It was only later when they saw pages they had typed appearing in shows and games that they saw the connection.

Time Blocks

“Path Generator error 402. Target not found. Try again?” Time travel was never meant to be mainstream, but eventually it was. It too...
